HOW TO CREATE A PEACEFUL LIFE

When I began my awakening a few years ago, one of the first things I 'unintentionally' began to manifest was a life of PEACE.


The majority of my life had been spent under the veil of consciousness, where chaos and constant anxiety reigned. EVERYTHING was fueled by drama. Even situations that had literally NOTHING to do with me. I was wide open energetically, and had never even HEARD of boundaries....so time and time again, I unknowingly gave my power away and allowed external people and situations to drain me over and over again. I lived in a constant state of anxiety - playing out "worst case" scenarios in my head on repeat. This exacerbated after the birth of my daughter in 2010, when my anxiety skyrocketed. I would check on her multiple time throughout the night to make sure she was breathing. If she was at her dads house for the weekend and he didn't answer the phone, I would hop in my car in the middle of the night and drive across the city to make sure his house hadn't burned down. Yes, it was that bad. I lived in a constant state of FEAR. My nervous system was so frazzled that I depended on Adderall and Dunkin Donuts to stay awake each day, only to suffer insomnia every night for years. I was always bloated and my skin looked dry and dull. My muscles and bones constantly ached. When I look back on photos of myself during that time period, I can hardly recognize the woman I see looking back at me.


Then, in 2016, the death of my father catapulted me into my awakening.


My soul had been out of alignment for so long, that I had lost my connection to God. ( Source, Universe, the Holy Spirit...whatever term you choose to call on the Higher Power that is our creator.)


My awakening was my remembrance.


We are not meant to live our lives in a rushed, anxious state.. Our programming has convinced us to measure our self worth in terms of status and achievement.


I've got news for you.


The "GO GO GO Hustle/Bustle" mindset is literally KILLING people. Both physically, mentally, and spiritually.


We are here to savor the physical human experience. We are here to indulge our 5 senses - to experience joy, pleasure, love, excitement, gratitude, and PEACE. To live in the present moment - not dwell in the past or the future. The only time that exists is NOW.


Here are a few practices that helped me to create a life of PEACE. Do not turn this into another 'to-do list' or assignment. Just soak it in to plant the seeds in your subconscious mind.


- Change your relationship with your smart phone. Up until this past month, I had a flip phone that I used for several years, and looking back, I can see how it added to creating my life of peace.I was able to make phone calls and send text messages ( my texts were always abbreviated and very short LOL!) but it got the job done. My work situation made it necessary to purchase a smart phone earlier this month, and I have been very intentional with my use of it. I only download apps that serve me, and I TURN OFF ALL NOTIFICATIONS!!! This one if huge. If you are an empath, you can attest to the stress created everytime you hear sounds bombarding you from your phone. I only check my social media in the morning and at night. I also do periodic purges where I unfollow any accounts that are not posting content aligned to my highest good. If a page is triggering anxiety in you, UNFOLLOW IT! Easy peasy


- Turn off the news. In fact, stop following mainstream news altogether. It is literally designed to keep you imprisoned in a perpetual state of fear. Try it for just a week. See how you feel. :)


-Stop engaging with lower vibrational energies. I know this may sound snotty or pompous to say - but sadly, it is the reality we live in. Some people are living in a lower vibrational state. You will recognize them by the way they make you FEEL. They may gossip, manipulate others, lie, cheat, project their shortcomings onto others.....we all have people in our lives who are not 'doing the work' to better themselves. Limit your time with them. Proceed with caution. In dire situations..( LOL!) be sure to use energy clearing techniques before/after interacting. This is a game-changer.



-Hobbies are a great practice for becoming Mindful. Anytime you are participating in an activity that you love, you enter a state of FLOW. This is where you are completely present in the moment. As I write this blog, I am sipping my coffee, cuddled in my cozy bed on a lazy Saturday morning. I see the sun peeking through my blinds, I hear the birdies chirping in the trees outside my window. I smell my beautiful new Pumpkin Spice candle I treated myself to from World Market last week :) What activity brings you into the present moment, where you are able to experience all of your senses and be pulled out of your head, back into your body? Maybe its creating art...perhaps it is cooking, or knitting, or reading...maybe it is something more physical, like lifting weights at the gym, or going on a hike outdoors. If you do not have a hobby, think about what you loved to do as a child. I'll bet that same love still exists inside of you - it's just waiting for you to remember :)



.Declutter your space. Your external environment is a reflection of your internal world. By having less "stuff" PHYSICALLY, this will translate into less 'stuff' ENERGETICALLY." Let go of anything that is no longer serving you. Do this EVERYWHERE!!! Your closet, your pantry, your medicine cabinet, your purse, your car.....try to make a practice of periodically going through your things and purging anything that is literally dead weight. Are you really going to wear that dress from 2010 again? LOL :) Say goodbye to things that are not serving a purpose in your life, and you feel feel instantaneously lighter.



More than anything, set the intention that you wish to live a life of Peace. Ask, BELIEVE, and you shall receive :)
